Getting Married
Many couples choose St John’s for their marriage ceremony whether or not they are churchgoers. If you’re considering getting married at St John’s and are wondering how to make a start on all the planning and preparations we strongly recommend you first visit the “Your Church Wedding” website. On this site you will find all that you need to know about Church of England weddings. It is important to know that there are certain requirements that must happen in a church wedding to ensure the marriage complies with both UK civil and Church law. This website explains sspme of the main legal points to consider before you begin planning.
Once you have made yourself familiar with the legal requirements you will need to contact the vicar for an initial phone conversation, who will further advise you of the eligibility of having your wedding at St John’s. If so, and following this, you will have a meeting with one of the church staff members who will help you with all the necessary information and identification documents. Following that, we will invite you to come to a Marriage Preparation day. On this day you will receive a full Wedding Information Pack and will you be able to discuss the content of the service, agree rehearsal dates, etc.
